23 lions found dead in Gujarat’s Gir in the past 21 days

The death of lions in the Gir sanctuary of Gujarat is not taking the name of a stoppage. Two more lions sent to the rescue center during the investigation campaign in Gir Sanctuary died on Tuesday. Now the number of lions who died after September 12 has gone up to 23. Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Gupta said, “The rescued lions died due to infection”. Between 12th and 19th September, 11 lions died in the forest due to mutual fighting and infection, while ten more lions died after relocation between 20 and 30 September in relief centers. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani termed deaths as “very unfortunate”.
Earlier on September 21, it was reported that the bodies of 11 lions were found in Gir Forest. After which the state government had ordered an inquiry. In this regard, an official had said that all dead lions have died in the last 11 days (Eastern) division mainly in the Dalkhania range. Deputy Wild Protector, Gir (Eastern) P Purushottam said, “We have found dead bodies of 11 lions from the Eastern Wild Range of Gir”. After that incident, the continuation of the death of lions is ongoing.
