Mary Kom wins 6th World Boxing Championship title

India’s legendary MC Mary Kom has won the title of 48 kilograms in the 10th edition of the IBBA Women’s World Boxing Championship on Saturday (November 24th). Mary Kom won the gold medal in the final by defeating Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota by 5-0. Hanna is 13 years younger than Mary Kom. Hanna is 22 years old, while Mary Com is 35 years old.

Mary Kom is the world’s first boxer to reach seven times in the final of the World Championship. In 2001, she won silver, six times after that she won gold at the World Championship. She has won Gold Medal in the years 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2018. After this win, Mary Kom said, “It was not easy to beat Hanna of Ukraine because she is too tall than me.”

This is the sixth world championship title of Mary Kom, & her eighth medal at the World Championship. Richly experienced Mary Kom recently won Gold Medal in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. She also has five gold and a silver medal in the Asian Championships. Mary Kom, has won many tournaments since returning to the sport after becoming a mother.

Road from the quarterfinals to the finals

Mary Kom is also the brand ambassador of this IIFA Women’s World Championship Competition. Mary Kom defeated Kim Hong Mi of North Korea on Thursday in the semifinals, while in the quarter-finals, she beat China’s Wu Yu 5-0.
