Uttarakhand weather update: Rain forecast for 10 districts on August 21

There are chances of heavy rains in ten districts including Dehradun in the state today. Orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Center for Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar districts. There is a yellow alert for Haridwar, Tehri, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh districts.

Centre’s director Bikram Singh said, there may be heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning in these ten districts. Whereas, from August 22, there are chances of heavy rains across the state.

Temperature dropped by three degrees in Dehradun

Torrential rains brought down the temperature in Doon after 3 days. Compared to last Saturday, the maximum temperature of Doon was recorded three degrees less on Sunday. On the other hand, due to torrential rains, people had to face problems due to water-logging at many places in the city. The potholes on the roads doubled the problems of the drivers and passengers.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature of Doon was recorded at 34.4 degrees with a rise of five degrees. Whereas, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.3 degrees on Sunday. Even though the rain brought relief to the people from the humid heat, people had to face water-logging at many places including Railway Station Chowk, Astley Hall, ISBT Chowk, Prince Chowk. On the other hand, due to the weekend, there was a situation of jam many times in the city.

From Clocktower to Rajpur Road, there was a long queue on both sides. There, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Doon district on Monday as well. According to the Meteorological Center, there may be several rounds of rain with strong thunder and lightning in some areas of the district.
