Over 3000kg waste collected under ‘Everest Cleaning’ Campaign

We have become habituated to playing with the environment. Issues like global warming and climate change are of least importance to most people. This is the reason why we never feel it when we are playing with nature. Mt. Everest, which is the tallest mountain in the world, also has a dump of waste. People from all over the world climb the mountain to establish adventure and record, and leave the garbage brought with them (Solid Waste) on the mountain.

Nepal launched “Everest Cleaning Campaign” on April 14th to free the Mt. Everest from trash. This campaign will last for 45 days. So far, 3000 kilograms of solid waste have been collected. Under this campaign, the goal of collecting 10 thousand kilograms of garbage has been kept. This campaign has been started by Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality. In this, the Ministry of Tourism of Nepal Government and Nepali army are also helping. With the help of Nepali army helicopter, the garbage is being brought down.

All the people in this team have reached the base camp. For them, food, water and anything else needed is delivered to the camp. Their purpose is to collect waste from different places in several stages. It was said in the official statement that many people have already died on Mount Everest. In such a situation, if someone’s body is found during the cleanliness drive, they will bring it down too.

The campaign will cost 23 million Nepali rupees. The statement said that this year about 500 foreign mountaineers and 1,000 volunteers will come to Mount Everest. The people of this campaign have appealed that if anyone who comes to Mount Everest also takes away the garbage brought with them, then pollution will not spread. The purpose of this campaign is clear that we want to convey to the people that they help us to make the Everest pollution free. Therefore, the exhibition of garbage brought from there will be showcased..
