Indian channels go off air in Nepal for 24 hours

Indian TV channels were off for 24 hours in Nepal. All this has happened in opposition to a proposed bill, according to which foreign TV channels will be prevented from broadcasting advertisements.

The Internet and Digital Television Committee and the Nepal Cable Television Association also prevented broadcasting of commercial channels from 3 pm  on Monday to 3 pm on Tuesday, besides broadcasting of foreign channels.

If the Advertising (Regulation) Bill, proposed in Parliament by the Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Oli is implemented, the foreign channels will not be able to specifically broadcast the Indian channel ads. On the other hand, Indian broadcaster says that they can not give Nepal a clean feed without ads.

Channels like Star Plus, Colors, ZeeTV, Sony TV, Star Utsav in Nepal are extremely popular. Nepalese viewers for entertainment like watching Indian shows. Among the people of Nepal, Kullfi kumar bajewala,The Kapil Sharma are extremely popular.
