Many injured as turbulence hit Air Canada plane lands in Hawaii

Due to bad weather, an Australia bound Air Canada plane made emergency landing in Honolulu, Hawaii. The plane was going from Toronto to Sydney in Australia. Meanwhile, 37 passengers were injured in the plane, while nine passengers seriously injured.

Air Canada’s plane, going from to Sydney, Australia, via Vancouver, suffered a sudden bad weather. Air Canada spokeswoman Angela Mah said that the plane had to be deployed in Honolulu after two hours of flying.

Stephanie Beam a passenger from Colorado onboard the plane said “in the plane that while we were sleeping, the plane came under the bad weather conditions and the plane started dropping down. When I opened my eyes, I saw a woman who was struck by the roof of the aircraft. Because of which the cover of the oxygen mask was broken. Another passenger told that two air hostesses were serving food to the passengers at the time of the accident, they also collided with the roof of the aircraft.

Dean Nakano, Head of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said that the injured included children as well as elderly. 30 passengers have been admitted to the hospital, while some have been allowed to move home after the primary treatment. Service Department spokesman said that most people in the accident have been injured in the neck and back.

According to Air Canada spokesman, Boeing 777-200 had  269 passengers including 15 crew members were on the flight. After the accident, Air Canada has arranged hotels and meals for people in Honolulu. Alternate arrangements are also being made to provide travel arrangements for the passengers.
