Russian pilot lands plane in corn field, saves 233 lives
An aircraft crash landed in a corn filed after hitting a flock of birds as it flew from the Moscow capital of Russia on Thursday. Lives of 233 passengers onboard were in danger after several birds were trapped in the aircraft’s engine.
In such a situation, the pilot sensibly saved the life of the passengers by landing the plane in a corn field. 23 passengers received minor injuries, including five children.
According to Russian media, the Ural Airlines plane Airbus 321 flew on Thursday from Moscow’s Zhukovskiy airport to Simferopol in the Crimean penninsula. A flock of birds collided with the aircraft as it took flight. Several birds were trapped in both engines of the aircraft, which caused the engine to shut down. The pilot expertly landed the plane in the corn field, a kilometer from the Zhukovskiy airport.
Russian media and people described the pilot Damir Yusupov as a ‘hero’. People said that Damir is no less than a superhero, he saved 233 lives. At the same time, the Russian media wrote that in the event of engine failure, the pilot landed the aircraft in the maize field. This is a great presence of mind.
