EU extends Brexit date till January 31 next year

The UK and the European Union have agreed to extend the date of Brexit to 31 January 2020. The decision was taken at the European Council meeting in Brussels, Belgium on Monday. European Union President Donald Tusk said that 27 member states of the EU have accepted the UK’s request to extend the date of Brexit. Tusk said they would now give written information to the UK about this.

According to the new agreements, the UK has received flexible extensions for the due date. This means that by 31 January the UK can exit the EU whenever it wants. In Brussels, EU leader Michael Barnier for Brexit’s agreement said it was a smaller and better meeting. He expressed happiness over the decision to give Britain more opportunities.
