Remodeled Dehradun railway station expected to be operational from February 7

Chief Administrative Officer Nirman Anil Kumar Lohati, who arrived at Dehradun railway station to inspect the ongoing Dehradun yard remodeling work, said that the modern station will be ready within the stipulated time. After the completion of the work, trains of 18 coaches will now be available here. He expressed satisfaction seeing the work done so far.

Yard remodeling work is going on at Dehradun railway station from 10 November to 7 February. ADRM Moradabad Mandal Man Singh Meena and Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Anil Kumar reached Lohati to inspect it. During this, he closely reviewed the work done from one end of the station to the other and gave necessary instructions to the engineers. Talking to the media after the inspection, he said that by the deadline (February 7), the Dehradun station will be ready for the public in modern form.

It is said that till now the Doon station had a glimpse of the British era, as it was built by the British, but after this work, the Indian touch would be seen at the station. He said that till now 18 coaches of the train could not come due to the shortage of the platform at Dehradun station, but in the yard remodeling work, the length of all the platforms was being increased, after which the trains of 18 coaches could easily come and go from the station.

He praised the remodeling work and said that so far the work is keeping pace. This will complete the work within the stipulated time frame. Apart from this, he has instructed engineers and officers to take special care of construction and speeding, passenger facility related work, planning and quality of drainage.

While inspecting the ongoing yard remodeling work at Dehradun railway station, ADRM Man Singh Meena said that Mussoorie bus stand and Lakkhibagh police post will not come in the way of re-development work of the station. He said that as of now there is no proposal to remove them. Railways have sufficient land for the re-development work of the station. Work will be done on the same.

  1. The major issue was the parking area outside and also pick up and drop off area which needed adequate remodeling. But so far it seems untouched and sadly the authorities have never bothered to look into such a major issue. Also, the roads needed to be worked out as one way by catering additional one or two flyovers around. The engineers and the city planners need to visit small cities like Mysuru to overcome such issues. Though the faith on the engineers is low as I have seen the blunder of ISBT flyover..
