Roadways bus to undergo pollution check every three months

The roadways bus management committee swung into action after two roadways buses were fined Rs 2 lakh in Delhi for failing to check pollution. Managing director Ranveer Chauhan has ordered the ARM (Operations) of all depots to conduct pollution checks every three months forĀ  the Delhi-based BS-3 engine buses. MD Ranveer Chauhan said that two buses of Uttarakhand Roadways had failed in the pollution investigation by Delhi Pollution Control Committee. It had one bus at Rishikesh depot and another at Rudrapur depot. Pollution certificates of both buses were summoned. The Rishikesh depot bus certificate is valid. While the certificate of Rudrapur depot was more than three months old, it is not valid in Delhi NCR. Told that it is necessary to get pollution check of BS-3 engine buses in Delhi NCR within three months. An explanation of ARM of Rudrapur depot has been sought in this case. Along with this, orders were given to ARM of all depots to get pollution check of buses going to Delhi evry three months. It was also warned that if the buses are not tested within the stipulated period then the ARMs will be responsible for this.

The MD said that the pollution check of the bus at Rishikesh depot was done on 23 September this year. The certiificate has not even completed three months, but the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on this bus as well. Roadways will go to court in this case. There is a provision of a maximum fine of five thousand rupees in the act. Despite this, a fine of one lakh rupees is being imposed.
