Gangotri temple portals to open on 26 April 2020

Gangotri Dham portals will be opened for devotees on 26th April on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. On the occasion of Navaratri on Wednesday, the date and time of the inauguration was taken by Shri Panch Mandir Samiti Gangotri Dham as per the rituals.

Suresh Semwal, chairman of the committee, told that on 25 April at 1230 noon, the Ganga Doli of Maa Ganga will leave from the village of Mukhba village for Gangotri Dham. On the first day of the yatra, Ganga Doli will rest overnight in Bhairav ​​temple. After which Doli Yatra will again depart for Gangotri Dham on 26th of the next day.

After reaching the temple, the doors of the temple will be opened on the auspicious time of 12: 35 minutes with special prayers and offerings.

Temple priests and committee members to join the Doli Yatra

Meanwhile, expressing concern over the growing outbreak of the Corona virus, temple committee officials decided to strategize the temple opening ceremony.

He said that if the situation did not improve even after the lockdown, only the temple priests and committee members would join the Doli Yatra. However, the final decision will be taken only after discussing with the administration in this regard.

On the other hand, the doors of Yamunotri Dham is also expected to be opened on 26 April. However, Tirthapurohit Ashutosh Uniyal told that the official announcement of the date and time of the inauguration of Yamunotri Dham will be declared on 31 March.
