Services partially impacted due to General-OBC employees strike

The protest of general-OBC class personnel is gathering steam. The number of personnel involved in the continuous strike is increasing. Personnel associated with essential services have also started joining the movement. Due to which the partial impact of the strike on essential services is visible. Whereas, personnel have given an ultimatum to include essential services in full strike within a few days.

Due to the ongoing strike under the banner of Uttarakhand General-OBC Employees Association, there is silence in the offices these days. On Thursday too, work stopped at most government offices in Doon. Along with this, some personnel from departments related to essential services have also joined the strike. These include Drinking Water Corporation, Jal Sansthan, all the three corporations of energy, forest corporation, organizations related to health services. The strike also showed partial effect in hospitals on Thursday. While there was no significant impact on the electricity and drinking water services, personnel have warned of the complete shutdown of the said services soon.

Work was stopped in the departments of Collectorate, Vikas Bhawan, Tehsil, Food Supply, Social Welfare, Directorate of Education etc. People arrived in some departments, but the personnel were absent there and were left with no choice but to return back. In most departments, contract workers were seen. However, even though some actions took place, the strike was seen to dominate most of the general public’s work.

Pharmacists did two hours work boycott

Pharmacists in hospitals have also joined the movement to demand to abolish reservation in promotion and to remove the ban on promotion. On Thursday, pharmacists lodged a protest after two hours of work. At the same time, nursing staff, technicians and class IV employees worked with black band. Patients at other CHCs, including Doon Hospital, Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital and Coronation Hospital, had problems getting medicines in the morning. The two-hour work boycott will continue until Saturday.

Work in CMO office affected

Work in the CMO office was affected due to the staff strike. On Thursday, employees went on strike, all the work including the disabled certificate, Clinical Establishment Act, medical certificate, registration in the food safety department, license were affected.
