China lifts lockdown in Wuhan after 76 days

The lockdown is over after 11 weeks in Wuhan, China, from where the coronavirus pandemic began and spread throughout the world. In view of the lockdown in Wuhan, many countries of the world adopted this model of to prevent the infection from spreading. Authorities have allowed the people of Wuhan to come out.

After the end of the lockdown from midnight on Wednesday, 1.1 million people in the city will no longer need special permission to move anywhere provided the mandatory smart phone application shows that they are healthy and have not come in contact with an infected person.

On this occasion, light shows on both sides of the Yangtze River, images were floating on the skyscrapers and bridges in which health workers were seen carrying patients, and the words ‘Heroic City’ were seen for Wuhan. On the embankments and bridges, citizens were waving flags and singing the national anthem of China.

Cars descended on the streets, hundreds of people were seen waiting for trains and planes to go out of the city, and many people were desperate to go to work. The ruling Communist Party newspaper has warned against celebrating so early.

Out of the total 82 thousand corona infected in China, 50 thousand belonged only to Wuhan. Out of a total of 3331 deaths, 2500 died in Wuhan itself. Wuhan is the city where the first person infected with the novel coranavirus was found in December last year. There are about 56 million people living in the entire Hubei province, including Wuhan.
