Government mulls weekend lockdown in Uttarakhand

In view of the increasing cases of corona in Uttarakhand, the Trivendra Rawat government is thinking about a complete lockdown two days a week. This lockdown will apply throughout the state.

Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat directed the Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh to take action late on Thursday evening. The government is considering keeping the lockdown on Saturday and Sunday. During this time the state’s borders will also remain sealed.

After this, the Chief Secretary has called a high-level meeting on Friday. Lockdown days and arrangements will also be decided at this meeting.

On Thursday, 199 new cases of corona were reported across the state. In view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Chief Minister held discussions with Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh and Health Secretary Amit Negi late in the evening and expressed concern over the increasing number of patients.

He said that every possible step should be taken to prevent this. If necessary, along with sealing the state boundaries, a serious step should be taken for complete lockdown of the state on Saturday and Sunday.

The facilities of the people coming here and the tourists who have booked in the hotels will also have to be taken care of. Only those people who are coming from the most important work should be allowed to come in if theĀ  lockdown is applied.

Those who have already made a booking in the hotels here can also be allowed to come with some conditions. The Health Secretary said, there will be a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on Friday. The format of the lockdown will be decided. Orders will be issued by Friday evening.

199 new corona patients found in the state

On Thursday, 199 new corona patients have been found in Uttarakhand. With this, the total number of patients in the state has increased to 3982. So far, the number of people who have gone home from the hospital has reached 2995.
