US President suggests postponing US Presidential election 2020

US President Donald Trump on Thursday has suggested to postpone the US presidential election 2020 slated to be held Nov 3. Trump said that voting in the election is to be held in the mail system. In such a situation, these would be the most inaccurate and bogus elections in the history of America. He feared fraud during voting.

President Donald Trump tweeted, “With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”

Presidential elections are due in the US later this year. However, Coronavirus has caused havoc all over the country. The death toll from the virus has exceeded one and a half lakh. New York has the highest number of deaths at 32,658, California at 8,724, Florida at 6,332 and Texas at 5,913.

In addition, major sporting events have been canceled or postponed and there is serious doubt around the country as to whether schools and universities will reopen in September.

At the same time, only Congress can change the dates of the US presidential election. According to the law, these elections are to be held on November 3. The Democrats rule the lower house, so it seems unlikely. Trump had previously stated that he had no problem moving forward for the election.

Opposition leaders, on the other hand, say there is no evidence of fraud in US elections. In addition, the complex process of mail-in voting needs to be improved.
