Corona vaccine being developed by Oxford-Astrazeneca could be approved by Christmas

According to UK media, there is an increased hope that the coronavaccine may get a green signal from health regulators by the end of this year and vaccination will begin within six months. The vaccine, developed by Oxford University in collaboration with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, is at the forefront of the trial and can be cleared until Christmas.

Under the protocol made by a UK Joint Committee on Vaccination, any approved vaccine will be first introduced to people up to 65 years of age. This will be followed by those under 65 who are at greater risk. The next line will be people up to 50 years of age and the number of people below this age will come later.

Once the Oxford vaccine is ready, the UK government will take 100 million doses for which an order has been placed. However, the vaccine continues to be produced before the trial is completed. According to the ‘The Times’ newspaper, scientists are hopeful that they will get the results of the trial by the end of this year. If it is approved by the regulators, then vaccination will start soon after.
