Powerful Earthquake hits Turkey, Greece

Earhtquake tremors were felt in western Turkey and Greece on Friday. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was rated 7.0 on the Richter scale. Buildings and other buildings in Izmir city have suffered significant damage due to the earthquake. According to the latest information, so far four people have been killed in the earthquake while 120 are said to be injured.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said the quake had a magnitude of 6.9. Its center was 13 kilometers northeast of the Greek island of Samos. At the same time, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said that the earthquake was estimated to be 6.6. Its center was centered in the Aegean at a depth of 16.5 kilometers (10.3 mi).
