Earthquake tremors jolt Pithoragarh

After three days, earthquake tremors were again felt in earthquake sensitive Uttarakhand. However, there is no damage from the earthquake. Earlier, there was an earthquake on December 1. Then the epicenter of the earthquake was Haridwar.

The tremor of today’s earthquake was felt in Pithoragarh of Kumaon division in the state at 3 am. However, on the Richter scale, its intensity was estimated at 2.6. This was confirmed in the website of the National Center for Seismology.

Significantly, the earthquake tremors were felt on 01 December in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The Richter scale recorded an earthquake of 3.9 magnitude. The tremors were felt at 9.41 am, the depth of which was about 10 kilometers. People came out of the houses due to the earthquake.

According to the Meteorological Department, tremors were partially felt in Dehradun due to its intensity being less than three. There is no notice of loss from this. At the same time, experts from IIT Roorkee say that Uttarakhand has always been considered very sensitive to earthquake.

In such a situation, the possibility of earthquake in the coming days can not be ruled out. Meera Kainthura, District Disaster Management Officer, Haridwar said that no damage was reported from the earthquake anywhere.

Uttarakhand sensitive to earthquake

Uttarakhand is very sensitive in terms of earthquake. Talk about the most sensitive zone five of the state, which includes Rudraprayag (for the most part), Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi districts. Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, Pauri and Almora are in four zones and fall in both Dehradun and Tehri zones.
