New strain of Coronavirus in UK may dampen Christmas fervor

Britain was hoping to overcome the Corona pandemic soon after Pfizer’s vaccine was allowed emergency use. But, with the new strain of Coronavirus coming out, there is a stir. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called the emergency meeting of ministers to discuss the situation. This mysterious new strain of the virus is found more in London and southern part of England.

According to British media reports, Prime Minister Johnson is considering a travel ban from London. The final decision has not been taken yet. This strain of coronavirus has been identified as VUI-202012/01. It is believed that this strain is spreading the pandemic faster than before. The number of corona infections in Kent County hospitals has increased significantly. New cases have also increased rapidly in London.

Lockdown may occur again

In the UK from 23 to 27 December people were allowed to make Christmas bubble. In each bubble, three families could meet and celebrate. However, after the new strain came out, the discussion of lockdown has increased again across the country. The final decision on this is to be taken by PM Johnson.

Italy will remain in the Red Zone on Christmas and New Year

Italy, facing the second wave of Corona, has decided to tighten restrictions on Christmas and New Year. For this, lockdown will be imposed in three different phases. The lockdown of the first phase will be from 24 to 27 December.
