Joe Biden takes oath as 46th President of USA

Joe Biden became the 46th President of the US on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements. The nation’s Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath. Biden swore by placing his hand on the hundred-year-old Bible. 78-year-old Biden became the oldest President in US history. Meanwhile, Kamla Harris, of Indian-origin roots took oath as vice-president.

Biden said in his address after taking the oath that it is not a celebration of a candidate’s victory, but a celebration of the victory of democracy. “Together we will strengthen the economy. We are committed to the unity of America. America will be stronger than before. I promise to protect democracy and every American.”

Biden said – this is the victory of democracy

After the swearing-in, Biden said ‘it was celebratory time. This is America’s day. This is a victory for democracy. Today new history is being made. Biden said that we have seen a lot of challenges in life. America and its army are ready to face every challenge. I am the President of the whole of America and wish for everyone’s prosperity and protection for all.’

Former Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Republican leaders McCarthy and McConnell were present during the swearing-in. Biden has been talking about taking everyone along. This was revealed on Wednesday morning when he invited top leaders, including both Republican leaders McCarthy and McConnell, to attend the church’s prayer meeting on Wednesday morning. Significantly outgoing President Donald Trump was missing from the oath ceremony.
