Rain, Snowfall brings life to standstill in many villages of Bageshwar

Even after the snowfall, the sky remained mildly cloudy in Kumaon region. Fog enveloped the city of Bageshwar throughout the day. In the villages where it snowed, the temperature went below zero degree Celsius. Due to which the cold intensified. At the same time, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain, snow, hail and lightning lightning by January 6.

It rained almost all day on Sunday. By the evening the rain stopped and the farmers breathed a sigh of relief. At the same time, the villages adjacent to the high Himalayas of Kapkot received snowfall after light rain since the morning at places like Badiyakot, Kuwari, Borbalada, Sorag, Bachhan, Dola, Kilpara etc. Due to which the temperature of these villages has reached below zero degree. Due to the icy winds, it is freezing. People are burning wood and coal to heat homes. Despite that, chill is not decreasing. At the same time, people got relief from light sun blossom in the afternoon.

Water freezing in pipes

In the higher altitude villages, water is freezing in the taps. Apart from this, water scarcity for cattle has also started due to the freezing of water in the pipes. The electricity system in these areas has also collapsed. The system of grass etc. for fodder has also derailed. Due to which the shepherds towards the Bugyalas have also started returning downwards.

Chance of rain and snow again

District Disaster Officer Shikha Suyal said that according to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of snowfall in areas with altitude of 2500 meters on January 4 and 5. Villages with elevation up to 2200 on January 5 and 2000 meters on January 6 may experience snowfall. Apart from this, there is a possibility of hailstorm and lightning fall. The district administration has alerted the officials of all the departments on the meteorological update. Apart from this, departments like road, electricity, water etc. have been asked to be vigilant.
