Pindari Glacier and Bagji Bugyal Trek of the Year declared, Tourism Minister flags off the team

Pindari Glacier in Bageshwar district and Bagji Bugyal in Chamoli district have been declared Trek of the Year by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council (UTDB). On Wednesday, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj sent the team for both the treks at the council office in Garhicantt. Tour operators will also be given a subsidy of two thousand rupees on the total expenditure incurred on trekking each trekker by the tourism department.

Maharaj congratulated the trainees of Adventure Foundation from Bageshwar and Chamoli on starting the trek. He said that this program will play an important role in promoting winter trekking destination and winter tourism. Through this trek, the winter trekking destination will be promoted and broadcast like Kedarkantha. Trekking guide training is also being given by the department to promote trekking.

The Tourism Minister also welcomed the Baljuri (5922 m) mountaineering expedition team organized by UTDB in September 2022 and presented the certificate. On this occasion, Additional Secretary Tourism C. Ravi Shankar, Additional Chief Executive Officer (Adventure Wing) Col Ashwini Pundir, Additional Chief Executive Officer Infrastructure Pooja Garbyal, Director Publicity and Marketing Sumit Pant, Director Infrastructure Le. Commander Deepak Khanduri, Additional Director Poonam Chand, Deputy Director Yogendra Gangwar, Senior Research Officer SS Samant and other officers were present.

This will be the route of the trek

Pindari Glacier trek will start from Kathgodam in Kumaon, while the track of Bagji Bugyal will start from Rishikesh in Dehradun district.
