Drinking one glass milk daily reduces risk of heart disease claims study

A more comprehensive study has been done about the benefits of milk. In this study conducted on about 2 million people, it has been found that regular drinking of milk is not related to increase in cholesterol level. Not only this, another study has also found that those who consumed milk regularly, the risk of heart disease was 14 percent less. The study is published in the International Journal of Obesity.

Excess milk intake is not a specific factor in terms of risk of cardiovascular diseases

According to this study conducted on three large populations, both those who consumed high amounts of milk found low levels of both good and bad cholesterol. Although their body mass index (BMI) was higher than that of non-drinkers. The team of researchers has also tested the digestion of milk from a genetic perspective. Milk sugar, known as lactose, has also been found to have differences in its digestive lactase gene. Those who had higher digestive power of lactose were identified as those consuming more milk.

Comprehensive study done on about 2 million people

We found genetic variation among participants, says Vimal Karani, professor of neutrogenetics and neutrogenomics at the University of Reading. Those who consumed more milk had higher BMI, body fat, but interestingly low levels of good and bad cholesterol were found. We also found that there was a difference in risk of heart diseases based on this genetic variation. All these things show that for the prevention of heart diseases it may not be necessary to reduce the intake of milk.
