WHO report lists reasons behind second Corona wave in India

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that a recent review of the situation in India found that there are many reasons for the acceleration of Covid-19 infection in the country, in which religious events and political events also have a significant involvement. . According to the Covid-19 weekly update published by the WHO on Wednesday, the B.1.617 variant of the corona virus was first identified in India. This variant was found here in October 2020.

In this update it was reported, ‘The recurrence of the Covid-19 case and deaths in India raised questions about the role of B.1.617 and other variants (e.g., B.1.1.7).’ The WHO believes that there are a number of reasons behind India’s worrisome situation, including the rush of people to attend various religious and political events, leading to the spread of infection. According to an update prepared by the WHO after the recent review of India’s bad situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the lack of adherence to public health and social measures (PHSM) are responsible for in the current situation.

According to WHO, the rate of infection in B.1.617 is high. It also stated, ‘Preliminary evidence has shown that this form decreases the efficacy of the monoclonal antibody’  used in the treatment of Covid-19. In addition, the WHO has clarified that it does not identify any variant with the countries where that variant is first found. It mentions the variant with its scientific name. The global body has also urged all people to mention any variant of the virus by its scientific name.
