Wife of Pulwama martyr becomes officer in the Indian Army

A proud picture for Uttarakhand has come from OTA, Chennai. Here Nitika Kaul Dhoundiyal, wife of the  Pulwama martyr Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, duly became an officer in the army today. She has become a lieutenant in the Indian Army after rigorous training. After the passing out parade held at Officers Training Academy on Saturday, Lt Gen YK Joshi congratulated her by putting stars on hershoulder. In 2019, Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, a resident of Dehradun, lost his life in an encounter with terrorists in Pulwama. Neetika maintained her courage even after losing her husband only 10 months after marriage. She didn’t let himself break.

 

Today, Nitika proved to be an officer in the army and proved that with courage, passion, perseverance and hard work, one can overcome all obstacles. Her dream finally came true when she crossed the last leg at OTA Chennai. Now she will serve the country as an army officer. Lieutenant Nitika had passed the Women’s Entry Scheme exam in Allahabad last year. After passing the exam, she took training from Officers Training Academy, Chennai. On Saturday, she completed her training and joined the army. The family of Major Vibhuti Dhoundiyal, who was martyred while taking on terrorists on 8 February 2019, is originally from the village of Dhound, located in Pauri Garhwal district. His family settled in Dehradun in 1952. Both Major Vibhuti’s father and grandfather retired from the Air Force CDA office at Rajpur Road.
