Bharat Biotech submits third phase trial data of Covaxin
Bharat Biotech’s covaxin has been found to be 77.8 percent effective in the third phase. The company had submitted the trial data to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) last week. On which an important meeting of the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) was held on Tuesday. In this the data of the Phase 3 trial of the vaccine was approved. This report has been submitted to the Central Government Committee on behalf of Bharat Biotech. After receiving the data of Phase III, the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) held a meeting on Tuesday. In this, this information was handed over on behalf of Covaxin.
The third phase trial was done on 25,800 people. In this it was seen how effective this vaccine is against corona. After the approval of the SEC, this data can now also be submitted to the World Health Organization (WHO).
100 percent reduction in chances of hospitalization
The data shows a 100 percent reduction in the chances of hospitalization in case of infection. Covaxin has been made by Bharat Biotech in association with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Data from Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin have not yet been fully published in the internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journal. Bharat Biotech said earlier this month that the data would be published after submission to the drug regulator and within a time frame of about three months.
Covaxin may get approval from WHO between July and September
It is believed that Covaxin may get approval for emergency use from WHO between July and September. The company said that regulatory approvals for Covaxin are underway in 60 countries. These include America and Brazil the two countries most affected by Corona alongwith India. Application has also been given in WHO-Geneva for approval.
