Heavy rains cause damage in Dehradun and adjoining areas

Heavy rains in Uttarakhand for the past few days are wrecking havoc. The Mussoorie-Dehradun road, which was closed since 9 o’clock last night, opened after about 14 hours and traffic became smooth. According to Kotwali Police Mussoorie, debris and boulders were falling continuously. On the other hand, part of the all-weather road near Phakot on the Gangotri highway has been washed away. Due to this the traffic has come to a complete standstill. The road has been washed away due to the swelling up of the seasonal rivulet. Now the Gangotri Highway will remain closed for a few days. At the same time, the bridge at Ranipokhari between Rishikesh-Jolly Grant Airport has been damaged. Earlier on Thursday and Wednesday, heavy rains caused heavy damage to roads and buildings, while many bridges and bridges were also damaged.

On the other hand, intermittent landslides continued throughout the day on the Doon-Mussoorie road and Rishikesh-Badrinath road. In Kumaon also, the connectivity road is blocked in the border areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Kumaon on Friday.

A part of the road was washed away in Sahastradhara

Due to heavy rains overnight, the river in Sahasradhara was in spate, due to which a part of the road was washed away due to soil erosion. In Khairi Man Singh, the rain has caused a lot of damage to the road. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami carried out on-site inspection of Sahastradhara-Maldevta road damaged due to excessive water inflow in the river due to heavy rains. The Chief Minister directed District Magistrate Dehradun R Rajesh Kumar to channelize the river and get the damaged part of the road repaired at the earliest. The Chief Minister also met the local people there.
