Uttarayani mela 2022 to be limited to 3 days amidst rising corona cases
This time the historic Uttarayani Mela will be celebrated in the shadow of threat of Omicron, the new variant of Corona. For the last two years, this fair was under the shadow of Corona and the fair was celebrated only religiously. But this time the administration had made all preparations to celebrate the fair with great grandeur. But the cases of Omicron, which is growing rapidly in recent days, forced the administration to re-think. As a result, it was decided on Saturday that once again the famous Uttarayani Mela will be celebrated in a very short form.
In view of the increasing cases of Omicron, the administration called a meeting on Saturday to discuss the organization of the Uttarayani fair. In this meeting, it was decided that in view of the Omicron transition, the fair should be organized only for 3 days instead of a week. Along with this, there were restrictions on the arrival of traders coming from outside states in the fair.
On Saturday also 4 new cases of Corona Omicron variant have been reported in Uttarakhand. For the past few days, cases of Omicron were coming to the fore. It is to be known that Uttarayani fair in Kashi Bageshwar of Kumaon is very important politically as well as historically and religiously. People from different places of the country have been coming to this fair held on the day of Makar Sankranti. After the crisis of Corona subsided, the administration, including the municipality, hoped that this time the Uttarayani fair would be held according to its old form. The administration had also completed preparations for this. But the increasing cases of Omicron have once again put a curb on the grandeur of the historical and religious fair.
