Delhi records season’s highest temperature

Delhi has started reeling under scorching heat in March itself. In many areas, the maximum temperature on Monday was recorded above 40 degree Celsius. The Meteorological Department has forecast that a severe heat wave-like situation may prevail in many areas for the next two days.

In Delhi, the month of March usually marks the end of winter and the arrival of summer. The temperature generally remains pleasant. The scorching heat starts from April onwards, but this time the scorching heat is being faced in March itself. The sun turned hot in most parts of Delhi on Monday as the day progressed. In the afternoon, people also felt the gust of hot air. The day’s maximum temperature at Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory was recorded at 39.1 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal. The minimum temperature was 22.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. Monday was the hottest day of the season.

The mercury reached 42 degrees in Narela

In Delhi’s Narela area, people had to bear the maximum heat. The maximum temperature recorded at Narela Meteorological Station was 42 degree Celsius. Apart from this, the maximum temperature of more than 40 degrees was recorded at Lodhi Road, Najafgarh, Narela, Pitampura and Sports Complex weather station.

Hot weather expected for two days

The Meteorological Department has forecast that there is a possibility of severe heat for the next two days. During this period, severe heat wave conditions are likely in different parts. The maximum temperature is likely to be 40 and the minimum temperature is more than 22 degrees. An alert has also been issued by the Meteorological Department for a heat wave warning.

Why is it getting hot

This time, above normal rainfall was recorded in January and February. Due to this the weather was pleasant and people got relief from pollution. However, due to different weather factors, active Western Disturbances could not come in March. Generally, more than three Western Disturbances come in March. Due to these strong wind blows and there is light rain. The weather has become very hot due to the absence of Western Disturbance, while the wind is coming from Rajasthan at this time. There is also a heat wave like situation. Due to this the people of Delhi and northern India are facing more heat than normal.
