Andrey Rublev bagels Novak Djokovic to win Serbia Open 2022

Russia’s Andre Rublev defeated the world number 1 Novak Djokovic to win the Serbia Open tennis tournament on Sunday. Rublev won the final 6-2, 6-7, 6-0. In this way he won his third title of the season. Russia’s second seed prevented the Serbian top seed from making a comeback once again in the tournament. Djokovic is still looking for his first title of 2022.

Djokovic won his last three matches while coming back after losing the first set. He made it to the finals of his domestic tournament by defeating Laslo Đere, Miomir Kecmanović and Karen Khachanov.

Djokovic, the 20-time Grand Slam champion, defeated Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals in a 3-set match. Djokovic had earlier won the Serbia Open title in 2009 and 2011 but this time his title dream could not be fulfilled.
