Boris Johnson meets Zelenskyy in Kyiv

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Kyiv, the capital of war-torn Ukraine, on Saturday and met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting assumes significance amid the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Ukrainian capital and surrounding areas and Ukraine’s demand for weapons from European countries. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula van der had visited Kyiv and met Zelenskyy. It is also being considered by European countries as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine. Many European countries are also planning to reopen their embassies in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Zelenskyy gave information about this meeting. His advisor shared on Facebook a photo of the meeting with Boris Johnson, writing that he had a direct meeting with the British Prime Minister. In the meeting, both the leaders are seen sitting face to face in a large room. Johnson is wearing a dark suit, while Zelensky is seen in a complete khaki dress. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Zelenskyy has mostly appeared in this outfit.

President’s adviser Andrey Sibiha wrote that Britain has been a strong supporter of Ukraine. Johnson is the leader of the anti-war coalition, leading sanctions decisions against aggressive Russia. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU policy chief Josep Borrell visited Kyiv on Friday. Britain’s Prime Minister’s Office Downing Street has said that the prime minister is in Ukraine to show solidarity with the people there.
