Lane driving rule applicable in Delhi from April 1; violators to be fined Rs 10000

The new lane-driving rule has been implemented in the capital Delhi from April 1. A fine of Rs 10,000 is being deducted for violating the rule. This rule has been brought with an aim to make Delhi jam-free and reduce road accidents. What is the new lane-driving rule?

This rule of Delhi transport has been currently applied to heavy vehicles like buses and trucks. Under this, such vehicles will have to move in their designated lane only. For violating this rule for the first time, a fine of Rs 5000 will be taken from the drivers. Whereas in the second time this fine will increase to 10 thousand rupees. Not only this, if a driver is caught making a mistake several times, then their license and vehicle permit can be canceled.

There is a separate lane for buses in Delhi. Also, a separate box has been made for the buses to stand at the bus stand. Soon this rule can be implemented on all types of vehicles. Several teams have been deployed by the Delhi Transport Department to ensure that the rules are followed properly and to nab the violators. According to the report, after April 15, it can also be implemented on vehicles like cars, motorcycles, scooters etc.

23 buses fined Rs 10 thousand in 2 days

In the last two days, 23 bus drivers in Delhi have been fined Rs 10,000 for violations after the state transport department implemented the bus lane enforcement drive, officials said. According to official figures, seven drivers were fined for violating lane discipline on Friday and 16 on Saturday.
