Cloudburst in Rudraprayag district; orange alert for rains on Wednesday

In Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag, cloudburst caused damage to several houses, while crops were also washed away. Villagers saved their lives by feeling to higher regions.

Heavy rain alert in five districts

There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to heavy rain. People are spending the night awake. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain in the state on Wednesday. Orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in five districts including Dehradun.

Debris entered half a dozen houses

Due to cloudburst in Chinka, Gram Panchayat of Rudraprayag Agastyamuni development block, a huge amount of debris entered half a dozen houses in Mehdkhola, agriculture crops were washed away along with sudden surge of water.

Highway remained closed due to boulder

Besides, the Karnprayag-Gwaldam National Highway remained closed for vehicular movement from 6 am to 9 am on Tuesday due to heavy boulders falling from the hills near Nalgaon due to heavy rains on Monday night.
