An avalanche struck the Dokrani Bamak Glacier in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district today. During this, two instructors of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) are reported to have been injured.

Colonel Amit Bisht, Principal of Nehru Mountaineering Institute told that a team of 28 people had gone for training in Draupadi’s Danda peak. During this time there has been news of avalanche.

Expert team to find cause of Kedarnath glacier avalanche

A team of scientists has reached Kedarnath to study the causes and effects of avalanche in Chorabari area near Kedarnath. This includes scientists from the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology as well as the Remote Sensing Institute. Incidents of avalanches were coming to the fore in the Chorabari area, about five to seven km from the Kedarnath temple complex.
