What is NOTAM which due to which air services in US got impacted

Air services have been badly affected due to glitch in the Notice to Air Mission System (NOTAM) of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of US. Due to this, hundreds of flights have been delayed in America. The Federal Aviation Administration says an advisory from the Air Traffic Control System Command Center resulted in a NOTAM error. For the first time in history, there has been a fault in the Notice to Air Mission system.

What is NOTAM?

Notice to Air Mission System is a type of communication system, with the help of which important information is sent to the cabin crew present in the flight. It is a very secret information system, which is very difficult to break into. Under the Notice to Air Mission System, very sensitive and important information is sent to the pilot of the aircraft such as weather, volcanic eruption, airspace restrictions, any parachute jump, rocket launch and military exercises. So that the aircraft does not face any untoward incident during the air travel. Also, with this information system, the pilot of the aircraft is informed about the condition of the airports such as snowfall, disturbance in the lights or the presence of any bird on the runway. In this way, it can be said that the notice to air mission system is very important for the safe journey of the aircraft.

Giving information on Twitter, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the ‘Federal Aviation Administration is working to restart the Notice to Air Mission System’. Some functions have started working, operations in the national airspace will be limited.

According to media reports, more than 760 flights coming to America from all over America and from outside are late. Also 91 different flights have been cancelled.
