Uttarakhand weather changes in evening; snowfall in Badrinath, Hemkund

In Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, the weather changed on Thursday and there was snowfall on the high peaks of Joshimath along with Badrinath, Hemkund Sahib. Auli and Gairsain also received light snowfall, which has brought coolness in the weather. In Gopeshwar, Nandanagar, Pipalkoti, Nandprayag, Karnaprayag, Bharadisain, Gairsain areas too, the cold has increased due to change in weather. Snowfall continued in the higher reaches till late evening.

Whereas in New Tehri, sometimes it was sunny and sometimes it was cloudy. So far this season, the light rains received for two-three days are insufficient for the crop, due to which the farmers are still eagerly waiting for the rains.

Yellow alert of rain and snowfall

There is a possibility of snowfall with light rain at isolated places in the five hilly districts of Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert. According to Vikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center and senior meteorologist, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at some places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar. In the high altitude areas, along with snowfall, lightning may also fall at some places. In such a situation, people need to be careful. Capital Doon and surrounding areas will be cloudy but chances of rain are less.

Uttarakhand is likely to receive below normal rainfall in February. According to the Meteorological Department, only three days of rain are expected in February. According to the Meteorological Department, the monthly minimum temperature is also likely to be below normal in most parts of Uttarakhand in February.
