Asia’s longest ropeway to be built in this city

In Uttarakhand, the exercise of putting three big projects on the ground has intensified. Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation (UKMRC) has started the tender process for two ropeways and one bridge car project. The works will be allotted by opening tenders in June and July. Many international companies have applied for this.

A pre-bid conference will be held on June 6 for the longest rope-way project in Asia from Rishikesh ISBT to Neelkanth Temple. Apart from this, the work has also been speeded up regarding the pod car project in Haridwar and the ropeway project from Har Ki Pauri to Chandi Devi Temple.

Efforts are being made to get approval from the Center for the Neo Metro project in Dehradun. The Managing Director of UKMRC has given detailed information about all the projects and future activities along with the current status.

  • The longest ropeway project to cost Rs 465.69 crores
  • Ropeway will be constructed from ISBT to Triveni Ghat, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple and Parvati Mata Temple in Rishikesh.
  • 465.69 crore, this 6.485 kilometer long project will be the longest in Asia.
  • The longest ropeways in India so far are 4.2 km at Gulmarg in Kashmir and 4.1 km at Auli in Uttarakhand.
  • The ropeway will have four stations from ISBT to Parvati Mata Mandir.
  • The distance from Rishikesh to Neelkanth can be covered in just 17 minutes.
  • Built with mono cable detachable gondola system technology, the project will have 143 cabin cars with a capacity of 10 persons each.
  • A total of 36 towers will be constructed between the four stations.
  • The process of acquisition of 4.237 hectares of land for the project is in progress. It has 2.277 hectares of government and 1.960 hectares of private land.
