Kedarnath Yatra halted till further orders due to rain
Monsoon has reached Uttarakhand. Due to which intermittent rains are continuing in the hills and plains of Uttarakhand since early Sunday. Rudraprayag DM told that Kedarnath Yatra has been suspended till further orders due to rain. In Sonprayag, devotees have been stopped from going to Kedarnath.
Earlier, till 8 am, a total of 5828 passengers had left for Kedarnath from Sonprayag. Pictures of damage including closure of roads due to heavy rains are coming out from across the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Disaster Management Control Room.
The CM instructed the officers and employees to remain fully alert. Nine roads have been blocked due to rain in Dehradun district. One state highway and nine rural roads were covered with debris. The machinery of administration is busy in opening the roads. Monsoon has knocked in the state. Heavy rains have brought disaster at many places.
Orange alert for heavy rain in next 24 hours
Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, said that the monsoon is progressing rapidly. In view of this, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in seven districts including Dehradun from Sunday. During this, very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Nainital and Bageshwar districts.
