Boulder fell on three vehicles going from Gangotri Highway, 4 killed, 26 narrowly escaped

At Gangnani on the Gangotri Highway in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, three vehicles were destroyed by boulders coming falling from the mountain. Four people died in this incident, while 26 people could somehow escape from death. Some of them are injured, who were sent to the hospital by ambulance. The incident happened on Monday late night. Rescue work is going on now. The bodies of three dead have been retrieved while one was trapped in the vehicle itself.

According to the information, all the passengers killed in this accident were residents of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, who had gone on a journey to Uttarakhand. Please tell that due to rain in Uttarkashi, the situation has become worse. It is raining continuously here. Many people are waiting for the highway to open by parking their vehicles. Only yesterday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to the pilgrims to start the yatra only after getting an update about the weather.

Red alert for heavy rain

A red alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy to very heavy rains in the state. Schools have been ordered to be closed in Dehradun, Chamoli, Pauri, Dehradun, Nainital, Almora, Rudraprayag. A bridge has been washed away by a glacier burst in Malari, cutting off 10 villages connecting the India-China border in Chamoli district. On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Kotdwara, Bageshwar, the water level of the rivers has gone above the danger mark.
