Swimming to be allowed in this river in France after 100 years

People will soon been allowed to swim in the Seine River in Paris, the capital of France. Public swimming was banned here 100 years ago i.e. in 1923 due to poor water quality.

Now Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has said that this ban will be completely lifted in 2025. However, before this, swimmers will be allowed to swim in the country to prepare for the Olympic Games. Its purpose is that they can prepare properly for the swimming competition.

According to the report of ‘France 24’ – the mayor has currently approved the opening of only three sites for swimming. The reason for this is that work is still going on at other places and it will take some more time to complete. One of these sites is such that it is very close to the Eiffel Tower.

According to the statement of the city administration – now the water of the river Seine is quite clear. It has also got the certificate of Excellent Category Water. So, now people will not face any problem in swimming here and there will be no harm to their health.

According to the report – a large part of the waste water in the river came from Paris. To stop this, a plan was made and the help of experts was taken. The city’s sewage system was designed in a very modern way. For this, water treatment plants were set up and about 23,000 apartments were connected to these plants so that their waste water does not mix in the Seine river.

Houseboats plying in this river were also a big problem. Their number was 260 and their sewage also used to go into the river. Therefore, the administration made a separate plan for them. Now these boats are also running and their waste does not go into the river.

Some events will be held in the Seine River during the Olympic Games. This is the first time after 123 years that any kind of multi national water sports events will be held in this river.
