Accident on Gangotri Highway, bus carrying 33 passengers fell into gorge

A tragic accident took place in Uttarakhand on Sunday. A bus carrying passengers fell into a gorge near Gangnani on the Gangotri Highway. Seven people reportedly died in the accident. While 28 injured were admitted to District Hospital Uttarkashi. Out of this, seven seriously injured passengers have been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh and Doon Hospital Dehradun.

As per information, a bus number was coming from Gangotri towards Uttarkashi with 33 passengers. During this the bus went uncontrolled and fell into the gorge. On the information of the accident, Maneri Police Station, SDRF and NDRF and the team of Disaster Management Department reached the spot. In some time, DM Abhishek Ruhela and SP Arpan Yaduvanshi also reached the spot. In the rescue operation that lasted till late evening, 28 injured were taken out of the out of the accident site and taken to the road.

 

It took some time to extricate one of the injured as he was trapped in the vehicle. After some time he was also taken out. The injured in the accident were admitted to nearby hospitals through 108 service and ambulance. Seven seriously injured people were taken to the district hospital. SP Arpan Yaduvanshi told that there were a total of 35 people including pilgrims and driver and helper in the bus. The bodies of seven have been recovered.
