Neeraj Chopra wins Gold in Javelin throw at World Athletics Championships 2023

Neeraj Chopra created history by winning the gold medal in Javelin throw at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest. He captured the gold medal in the second round with a throw of 88.17 metres. With this, he has become the first Indian to win a gold medal in the World Athletics Championships. On this achievement of Neeraj Chopra, he is getting congratulations from all over the country. This was the only big title missing from his trophy cabinet as he had to content with silver last year.

First Indian to win Gold in Athletics World Championships history

Earlier, Neeraj had won the silver, while long jumper Anju Bobby George won the bronze in 2003. The silver medal of the event went to Nadeem of Pakistan and the bronze medal to Yakub of the Czech Republic.

National record for Parul in 3000m steeplechase

The World Athletics Championship 2023 has come to an end, in which many Indian players have shown excellent performance. For India, Parul Chaudhary broke the national record in 3000 meters steeplechase and finished 11th. With this record, Parul qualified for the Olympics to be held in Paris in 2024.

India’s Parul finished at number 11 in 3000 meters steeplechase. She finished the race in 9 minutes 15.31 seconds. At the same time, in 3000 meters steeplechase, Brunei’s Winfred Mutile Yavi won the gold medal by completing the race with 8 minutes 54.29 seconds. Apart from this, Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoechwon silver by completing the race in 8 minutes 58.98 seconds. At the same time, another Kenyan athlete Faith Cherotich managed to win the bronze medal. Cherotich achieved his best score of 9 minutes 00.69 and won bronze.
