Portals of Hemkund Sahib to close on 11 October for 2023 winter season

The doors of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib, which is recognized as the main pilgrimage of Sikhs and the fifth Dham in Uttarakhand, will be closed for winter on 11 October 2023. Gurdwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Trust President Narendrajit Singh Bindra gave information in this regard.

Bindra told that on May 20 this year, the doors of Shri Hemkund Sahib were opened for the devotees. So far 2,27,500 devotees have attended and paid obeisance at Guru Darbar Sahib.

This year there was heavy snowfall in Hemkund from the time the doors opened. At the same time, army personnel had made way for the devotees through the snow. The number of pilgrims in Hemkund Sahib remained good till the month of June. While there has been a decrease in the number of pilgrimages in the months of July and August. He told that in the meeting of the trustees last day, it was decided that the doors of Hemkund Sahib would be closed on October 11, 2023.
