Heavy rains lash New York; Governor appeals to citizens to exercise caution
There was a storm with heavy rain in New York, America on Friday. Due to this, roads, highways were submerged underwater. Due to this, people got trapped in cars and houses. Fire brigade teams carried out rescue missions to help the people.
Flights had to be delayed at LaGuardia Airport. At the same time, metro service was stopped in some parts. Seeing the situation, New York Governor Kathy Hochul appealed to the people to exercise caution. She said in an interview that up to 5 inches of rain fell in some areas overnight. At the same time, 7 inches more rain is expected throughout the day.
She said that ‘this is a dangerous and deadly storm. We need to be careful for the next 20 hours. Everyone should stay at home. If you have to go out of the house for some work, then definitely get an update on the weather.’
Officials said heavy rain fell in New York City and the surrounding area, causing flash flooding. People living in areas where there is water have been asked to stay on the upper floors. Children in schools in the affected areas have been shifted to the upper floors. Mayor Eric Adams said we cannot take the storm lightly.
