New generation Nexon-EV launched at a starting price of ₹ 14.74 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the new generation Nexon EV today. The company claims that the new sub-4 meter electric SUV gives a range of 465km on full charge. This is India’s first car with two-spoke steering wheel.

The company has updated the exterior and interior design of Nexon SUV. Besides, new colors and more than 60 connecting (comfort and safety) features have been added to the car.

It competes with Mahindra XUV400 in the segment. Tata has introduced it at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 14.74 lakh, which goes up to Rs 19.94 lakh in the top variant.

Three trims and seven colors

Its booking has started from 9th September. Buyers can book it from the official website or by visiting the dealership by paying a token money of Rs 21,000.

The new Nexon EV 7 is offered in three different trims and two variants with color options. This includes Creative, Fearless and Empowered trims, with the option of mid and long range variants.

Looks and exterior design

Talking about the looks and design of the car, Nexon EV looks similar to its petrol-diesel version. Its front and rear look have been completely changed from the existing EV model. It now looks sportier than before. New LED DRLs split headlamp setup is available in its front. LED headlamps have been installed below on a completely new designed and more sporty looking bumper.

At the rear, the Nexon gets a fully connected LED tail light, which the company is calling ‘X Factor Tail Lamp’. Welcome and goodbye function is also available in it.

Interior Design

The biggest change in the car has been made inside the cabin. The new Nexon EV facelift will be the first car in the Indian auto industry to feature a two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel.

A touch panel HVAC unit in the dashboard and a new gear selector on the center console make the car even more luxurious.

Additionally, the Tata Nexon facelift gets a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Tata Nexon EV Facelift: Motor, Power and Top Speed

The electric SUV gets a second generation motor, which is capable of running from 12,000 rpm to 16,000 rpm compared to earlier. The new motor generates power of 142.6 bhp and maximum torque of 2,500Nm. The company claims that the car achieves the speed of 0-100 kmph in 8.9 seconds. Its top speed is 150 kmph, which is 30 kmph more than the old model. The motor has been tuned with a brand new gearknob and paddle shifters. Also, the car has three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.

Tata Nexon EV facelift: Battery, range and charging

Battery and Range: The new generation Tata Nexon EV variants have been rebadged as mid range and long range. To power the motor, a 30 kW battery pack is available in the mid range. It has a claimed range of 325 km on full charge, which is 13 km more than before. The long range variant has a 40.5 kWh battery pack, which has a claimed range of 465 km on full charge, which is 12 km more than before.

Charging: 7.2 kWh charging support has been provided to charge the new Tata Nexon EV. The company claims to charge 10-80% in 56 minutes with the fast charger. The model also offers V2L and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging.

IP67 safety to the battery pack: The battery pack gets IP67 safety. Talking about other safety features, it includes emergency call and breakdown call as well as hill descent control, hill ascent control, panic brake alert, auto vehicle hold and i-TPMS.
