Afghanistan jolted by another major intensity Earthquake

Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Afghanistan on Wednesday morning. According to the German Research Center for Geosciences, the earthquake was felt in the north-western part of Afghanistan. The intensity of the earthquake is said to be 6.3. It is being told that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers from the ground. There was loss of lives due to a large scale earthquake in Afghanistan last Saturday. On Saturday too, strong earthquake tremors were felt in Herat province of Afghanistan. In which 2000 people died.

More than two thousand people have died due to the powerful earthquake in western Afghanistan. A spokesperson of the Taliban government gave this information on Sunday. People climbed the rocks and debris and tried to rescue the dead and injured. Many villages were destroyed by the earthquake and bodies are trapped under the debris of collapsed houses. This is one of the most destructive earthquakes to hit the country in two decades. The country’s National Disaster Authority said that hundreds of people died in the devastation caused by the powerful earthquake of 6.3 magnitude that occurred in western Afghanistan on Saturday and its aftershocks.

Earlier, in June 2022, at least 1,000 people were killed in a powerful earthquake that hit the mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan. The US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 40 kilometers northwest of Herat city. After this, three earthquakes of magnitude 6.3, 5.9 and 5.5 were also felt.
