Iceland on alert over volcanic eruption

800 earthquakes have been felt in the European country Iceland in the last 14 hours. The intensity of the biggest shock was 5.2. According to officials, there is a fear of volcanic eruption due to the activities happening under the earth. Meanwhile, the National Police Chief has declared a state of emergency there.

At the same time, the local authority has expressed fear that earthquakes of higher intensity may occur in Iceland within a few days. According to the island’s Met office, there have been 24 thousand earthquakes since October. Most of the earthquake tremors were felt from 12 to 2 am.
