Tata motors unveils Punch EV

Tata Motors unveiled its Tata Punch EV on Friday (January 5). The company claims that this car will run 300 to 400 KM on full charge. Range will depend on the battery pack. Booking of Punch EV has started from today.

It can be booked by paying token money of Rs 21,000. Tata Punch EV will compete with the Citroen eC3. It will be positioned between the Nexon EV and Tiago EV. That means, prices could range between Rs 10 lakh-13 lakh, ex-showroom.

Tata Punch EV will be available in two variants

Tata Punch EV has been launched in two variants – Standard and Long Range. The standard is expected to have a 25kWh battery pack and the long range will have a 35kWh battery pack. The standard comes with a 3.3kW AC charger, while the long range comes with a 7.2kW AC charger along with 150kW DC fast charging.

The standard Punch EV is available in 5 trims – Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+. It has been launched in 5 dual-tone color options. Whereas in long range, three trims are available – Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+. It has 4 dual-tone color options.

Tata Punch EV: Interior, Features

The highlight of the Punch EV’s dashboard is the new 10.25-inch infotainment screen. It also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a large two-spoke steering wheel. However, the lower variant will have a 7.0-inch infotainment screen and digital cluster. The rotary drive selector found in Nexon EV will be available only in the Long Range variant.

Apart from this, Punch EV will get 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, electronic parking brake with auto hold, connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control and new Arcade.ev app suite. Sunroof is also available as an option.

For safety, it will have 6 airbags, ABS and ESC in all variants. It gets blind view monitor, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mount and SOS function.

Tata Punch EV: Exterior Design

Its front has a full-width LED light bar and a split headlamp setup. The main headlamp here is like the Nexon EV. Along with this, Punch EV is the first from the company, which has a charging socket in the front. Below this there is a completely new designed bumper.

The rear has a Y-shaped brake light setup, roof spoiler and dual-tone bumper design. 16-inch alloy wheels will be available with disc brakes on all four wheels. This is Tata’s first EV, which has a trunk under the bonnet for storage.

Fourth all electric car in Tata’s portfolio

It is the fourth all-electric car in Tata’s portfolio. This is also Tata’s second electric SUV after Nexon. This is Tata’s first model which has been developed on Generation 2 EV architecture.
