Budget 2024: 3 new rail corridors to be completed in 9 years

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the interim budget for the financial year 2024-25 on Thursday (1 February). At the same time, like other sectors, announcements have also been made for Railways in the budget. Presenting the interim budget, the Finance Minister said that 3 major Economic Railway Corridors programs will be implemented.

Among the three corridors, the first is energy, the second is port and the third is high density. The Finance Minister said that the Railway Corridor Program has been identified under PM Gati Shakti. This will increase logistics efficiency and reduce costs.

40 thousand kilometer long line will be built

According to the information, it will take 9 years to build the 3 economic corridors of the Railways and Rs 12 lakh crore will be spent on it. Including all three corridors there will be a 40 thousand kilometer long line.

Big announcement on Vande Bharat also

Apart from the 3 major economic rail corridors, the Finance Minister also made a big announcement on Vande Bharat in the budget. She also announced to replace 40 thousand ordinary railway coaches with Vande Bharat Express coaches. Apart from this, the Finance Minister said that Metro Rail will be expanded to other cities also.
