Doors of Tungnath temple ceremonially closed for the winter season

The doors of the third Kedar, Lord Shri Tungnath Ji, were closed for the winter season on Thursday, November 6 at 11:30 am, amid rituals and Vedic chanting. Following the closure, the idol of Lord Shri Tungnath Ji departed for its first stop, Chopta, amid cheers from devotees and pilgrims. The temple complex was lavishly decorated with flowers for the closing ceremony. More than five hundred devotees were present on this auspicious occasion and witnessed the closing ceremony. The temple was opened for devotees in the morning, where, after the completion of the daily prayers Yagna, pilgrims earned the blessings of seeing Lord Tungnath.
The closing ceremony began at 10:30 am. The doors were formally closed for the winter season at 11:30 am in the auspicious time. On this occasion, the movable idol palanquin of Lord Shri Tungnath ji was placed in the temple premises, from where, after circumambulating the temple and blessing the devotees, it left for the first stop Chopta with the sound of drums, conch shells and slogans.
According to the temple committee, this year more than one and a half lakh devotees visited Tungnath. After the doors were closed, the movable idol palanquin will stay at the second stop Bhankun on Friday, November 7 and will reach the winter seat, Shri Markateshwar Temple, Makummath on Saturday, November 8.
After reaching Makummath, the winter worship of Lord Tungnath will begin. The temple committee informed that this year the winter pilgrimage will also be encouraged so that more and more devotees can avail the benefit of the winter darshan of Lord Tungnath.
